August 20-Language

Today’s topic is language. What is language? It can be a spoken language, it can be sign language, or it can be a secret code. The top three most used languages in the world now are (1) Chinese, (2) Spanish, and (3) English. This surprised me. I thought English would be 1st. Maybe in 2023, Russian will be the leading language, ASL, (American Sign Language) might me number 1. Or maybe most people will be using pig-latin! My mother thought of a very interesting idea: What if everyone uses the same language? Wouldn’t that be cool? I think that somebody might make a language that combines every language, and then most people could learn it. That would be amazing.

August 19- A Cure for Cancer

I wonder if there will be a cure for cancer by 2023. Hopefully we will. Right now, doctors all over the world are researching and studying cancer. Some cancer specialists think that they may not find a cure, but make cancer a chronic illness. A chronic illness is a disease that you can live with. You can go on with your daily life, but still have the disease. It seems realistic to me, but I sure do wish a doctor would just find the cure. I bet by 2023 we will at least have a temporary cure. Think about it!

August 18- Transportation

I wonder what transportation will be like in 2023. Now, we have cars, trains, bikes, motorcycles, airplanes, jets, and more. Maybe in 2023 we will have cars that transform into airplanes when you flip a switch, or maybe the government will force every family to own a Smart Car. That would be weird. What do you think? How much will gas prices be by then? If the prices were .89 a gallon in the 1980’s, and the prices now are around 3.00 a gallon, will they be more or less. It is an interesting thought. Maybe we won’t be using ethanol anymore.
